What is facial balancing?
Facial balancing, also called facial harmonization, maps the lips, chin, jawline, cheeks, and profile before any filler is placed. Dermal filler can add structure where a feature sits back. Sculptra®, a wrinkle relaxer, dissolving old filler, or no treatment in an area can belong on the same plan. It does not change bone, and it is not a chin implant or a facelift.
How facial balancing works
The face is looked at from the front and from the side, at rest and while it moves. Prior filler is noted before a new syringe is opened. The product goes in the feature that sits out of proportion, and the other areas stay on the written plan.
Products on a facial balancing plan
Hyaluronic acid filler adds shape now, such as a chin that sits back or a cheek that has flattened. Sculptra® is for a slower loss of structure across the face. A wrinkle relaxer is for movement that pulls a feature out of line. Dissolving comes first when old filler is already in the way. PDO threads or Skinvive are added only when the written plan calls for them.

What is facial balancing?

Is facial balancing the same as facial harmonization?
Yes. Facial harmonization is the same plan under another name. The whole face and the profile are mapped before anything is injected.
Is facial balancing just filler?
No. Filler is the product that adds shape now. The plan can also be Sculptra®, a wrinkle relaxer, dissolving, a skin treatment, or no treatment in an area that is already in proportion.
What areas can facial balancing include?
Lips, chin, jawline, cheeks, and the profile. Temples and the area under the chin are included only when they are what is throwing the face off.
Can facial balancing fix an asymmetrical face?
Filler can even a chin, a jawline, or a cheek that has lost volume on one side. A difference in the bone, or the bite, is sent for a surgical or orthodontic opinion.
Can facial balancing fix migrated filler?
Sometimes dissolving comes first. Adding filler on top of filler that has moved can make the heaviness worse.
Does facial balancing hurt?
It is a needle, so there is a pinch. The provider says what the area will feel like before the syringe is opened.
Will facial balancing make me look overdone?
It should not when the plan follows proportion instead of a trend. Overdone results usually come from treating every area in one visit, adding product where old filler already sits, or changing a feature that was not the one out of line.
How is facial balancing different from lip filler?

How much downtime should I expect?
Give the face a few days before a close-up photo. Bruising can show. The event date is set before the visit is booked.
When will I see facial balancing results?
The shape is there once swelling settles, often within a couple of weeks. It does not keep building for months the way Sculptra® does. Sculptra® on the same plan is the part that changes slowly.
How long does facial balancing last?
Fillers in the plan are not permanent. Most hyaluronic acid products are still there somewhere between nine months and a year and a half. Sculptra® is the one that can run past two years. The usual return is a smaller visit, not a rebuild of the first plan.
What do facial balancing before and after results look like?
