As summer approaches, treatments such as laser hair reduction, IPL (intense pulse light), Clear + Brilliant and chemical peels like the ZO 3-step peel require less sun exposure, less heat and extra care post-treatment.
Why winter is the best season for laser and peels
Cooler weather and less direct sun exposure is best for pre and post- laser and chemical peel treatments. The main reason is because your skin needs to be at its healthiest state, especially for treatments that cause acute inflammation, such as Clear + Brilliant and laser hair reduction.
Burned or sensitized skin is a direct contraindication from all laser treatments and chemical peels.
Alternatives you can do during the warmer months
Stimulator peels
Strength level: Mild
Stimulator peels are a great alternative to ZO's 3-step peel.
ZO 3-step peels are an amazing resurfacing treatment for acne, scarring, hyperpigmentation, melasma, and deep fine lines and wrinkles. While ZO 3-step peels are more aggressive, require pre-conditioning and the down time includes peeling and shedding, doing a series of Stimulator Peels help with similar skin concerns over a span of time.

While IPL offers a gentle, long-lasting solution for patients experiencing rosacea and sun damage, IPL is not a preferred treatment to do during the summer.
