About IPL Therapy
At The ZO Skin Centre in Dallas, Texas, we offer high-end photofacial skin rejuvenation treatments that address various skin concerns. With the Lumecca by InMode technology, an intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment is applied to correct wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, freckles, acne, rosacea, large pores, vascular lesions, and poor skin texture. Unlike a typical laser treatment that uses only one wavelength of light, IPL photofacials utilize a broad spectrum of light which targets a wider range of skin imperfections. Our photofacials are safe for all skin types and complexions, but a thorough examination of your skin prior to your treatment will help us to determine if IPL is right for your needs.

Administering IPL Therapy
Before treatment, we will provide you with protective eye gear before applying a cooling gel to the target area. During IPL treatments, a handheld device is used to project the focused laser deep into the skin. This light energy causes microscopic lesions within the skin to reveal a new, refreshed layer of tissue and to promote collagen production. Collagen is a natural protein produced by the body that improves the quality of your skin and its firmness. Therefore, the result is a naturally tighter appearance. There may be mild discomfort during treatment as patients feel a slight pinching sensation. The length of your session will be determined by your skin condition and the specific area being treated. Most IPL treatments take about 45 – 60 minutes.
After Your Treatment
Following treatment, your skin will be red but it is safe to resume your daily activities. There is usually no downtime needed with IPL. Some patients may have reddened skin that will last a few hours, but a cold compress can reduce this time. You should avoid direct sunlight for at least one week and always protect your skin from the sun and environmental damage. For optimal results, 3 – 5 treatments are recommended, which are typically scheduled three weeks apart.
